Conference in Copenhagen, Denmark.
The Bishops of Australia join with Pope Benedict XVI in commending all those involved in
the Climate Change Conference in Copenhagen, Denmark to work for the future wellbeing
of creation and human development by finding ways that “are respectful of creation and
that will promote a joint development based on human dignity and for the common good”
(Pope Benedict, Angelus address, 6 Dec 2009).
With the Pope the Catholic Bishops recognise the importance of respecting “the laws laid
down by God in nature” and encourage a focus on the “moral dimension of human life”
The Catholic Bishops of Australia pray for the success of this conference that it may unite
nations in a genuine effort to be good stewards of what the Creator has entrusted to us and
ensure that future generations can benefit from the wise provision of God for humanity.Statement of the Catholic Bishops on the Climate Change
