The Bishop of the Lismore Diocese, the Most Reverend Geoffrey Jarrett, recently announced the appointment of Father Paul McDonald as the new Administrator of St. Carthage’s Cathedral Parish. Father McDonald returns to the Lismore parish having completed five and a half years as Parish Priest of Coffs Harbour. Previously he had been assistant priest at Lismore (1982-1987), Coffs Harbour and then at Tweed Heads. His first appointment as parish priest was to his hometown of Murwillumbah for six and a half years. Commenting on his appointment Father McDonald said that he was looking forward to reconnecting with the Cathedral parish community. Father Paul Winter, formerly assistant pastor at Coffs Harbour, has been appointed Parish priest for a six year term. Fathers McDonald and Winter have commenced their respective appointments. Bishop Jarrett has also announced the appointment of Father Peter Slack, parish priest of St. Mary’s Parish Casino, as Vicar General of the Lismore Diocese. The Vicar General assists the Bishop in the governance of the Diocese.
