Bishop Gregory Homeming has launched the Diocese of Lismore Flood Appeal. At the appeal launch he said: “On behalf of the Diocese, I am establishing an appeal to help those who have suffered in the recent floods on the North Coast of N.S.W. (including those on the Tweed, those in Murwillumbah, Mullumbimby and Lismore). It is our duty to do whatever we can to help those most in need at this time. As a first step, the Diocese will be buying new mattresses for all those who have lost their beds in the flood.”
The Appeal will be administered through the Bishop of Lismore Charitable Works Fund. All donations are tax deductible.
The Diocese is working with local councils and agencies, including the NSW Government appointed Recovery Coordinator, to ensure that real needs are addressed and that relief efforts are not duplicated or wasted.
Bishop Gregory wants the communities of the NSW North Coast to know that the Catholic Church is with them in their struggles.
