Mary MacKillop may have lived most of her life in the 19th Century but her canonisation will live on-line using 21st Century technology.
Coverage of the canonisation of Australia’s first saint will be available on the web, incorporating a live, interactive webcast, photo galleries, a calendar of canonisation celebrations, educational resources and information highlighting Mary’s life and legacy.
Josephite Sisters and Associates will be blogging from around the world and posting web videos along with stories of their experiences of the canonisation celebrations.
The webcast, sponsored by Telstra, will begin on Sunday October 17th 2010 at 5:00pm Eastern Daylight Savings Time (EDST), opening with live coverage of the Mary MacKillop Feast Day Mass from St Mary’s Cathedral in Sydney before crossing to the Canonisation ceremony in Rome at 6:15pm (EDST).

The webcast will be available on demand at shortly after the ceremony concludes.
The Sisters of St Joseph believe the use of the web in covering Mary MacKillop’s canonisation ensures that everyone is given the opportunity to access the celebrations regardless of where they live.
