The long-awaited reopening of St. Carthage’s Cathedral will take place on Monday evening the 22nd February at 7pm. The Mass of Rededication will be
concelebrated by Bishop Jarrett, visiting bishops and priests. Representatives from parishes throughout the Diocese will attend. Central to the Liturgy of the Mass will be the consecration of the new altar and the implant of relics.
As a prelude to the re-opening of the Cathedral, the opening of the Holy Door for the Jubilee Year of Mercy will take place. On Sunday the 21st February at 10am, a procession will proceed along Dawson Street to the Tower Door of the Cathedral for the formal opening of the Holy Door.
On Tuesday Evening the 23rd February in the Cathedral at 7pm, there will be the celebration of a Solemn High Mass in honour of St. Carthage in the Extraordinary Form of the Roman Rite.
