Death of Father Vincent Doyle, Priest of the Diocese of Lismore

August 28, 2014 10:21 am
I wish to inform you that in Lismore in the early hours of this morning Father Vince was called to his eternal rest, following a sudden illness a few days ago. The Mass of Christian Burial concelebrated by the Bishop and presbyterium is arranged for 11.00am next Tuesday 2nd September at St Carthage’s Cathedral, Lismore. Fr Vince was born in Maclean on 11 November 1935, and ordained priest in Grafton by Bishop Farrelly on 19 July, 1959. After various diocesan appointments as an assistant priest, and five years on loan to the Diocese of Wewak, PNG, he was successively Parish Priest of Bellingen, Wauchope, Maclean and Bangalow/Byron Bay. Fr Vince retired to Goonellabah in 1998 and was known for his extensive spiritual ministry personally and through the Beginning Experience and the Mary of the Angelus Association.
We remember Fr Vince’s family and friends in their bereavement, and pray for the repose of his soul. Priests of the Diocese are asked to offer three Masses for this intention. Would you also kindly arrange for the name of Father Vincent Doyle to be placed first in the intentions for the departed in the Prayer of the Faithful this weekend.
May he rest in peace. Amen.
+ Geoffrey Jarrett,
Bishop of Lismore
