Supporting the Catholic youth and young adults
Most youth and young adults in the Diocese of Lismore are multicultural in their values and beliefs. More often, after completing Senior High, they prefer to reside in a bigger city to broaden their horizons and gain new experiences in life.
As young adults, they are hungry for somebody who will accompany them in their journey and guide their spiritual life, especially when they are making life-changing decisions and beginning to fulfil their dreams in life. But, as normal teenagers or young adults, they recognize listening to the voice of God through worship songs and loud music. They are also interested in getting involved in community programs, youth councils or volunteer work that can help them make social connections, foster a sense of belonging and develop their leadership skills.

Our mission in the Diocese is to accompany the young people who are coming from diverse and varied religious affiliations in their search for more meaning in life. We believe in their innate goodness, hence in this digital age, we envision empowering their giftedness and talents by building their self-confidence through various activities, like parish involvement, spiritual formation, missionary activities, spiritual direction, and counselling. These activities can help deepen their self-knowledge and build their self-esteem. We recognize their importance and we are here to listen to their voice by walking with them, guiding them in their inner longing and search, and helping them mould the Christian values within that can encourage them to appreciate the beauty of life. We want them to deepen their relationship with God and be confident of God’s love and mercy, thus sharing it with others, especially with their family and friends.
