Bishop Greg Homeming OCD has appointed members of the new Diocesan Pastoral Council (DPC), marking an important milestone in the Diocesan Renewal Journey.
The council brings together clergy, religious, and laity from across the diocese to share wisdom, advise the bishop, and help shape pastoral priorities. Its mission is to listen, discern, and encourage participation so that the life of the Church reflects the gifts and needs of all its people.
Bishop Homeming said the appointment of the council signals a new chapter of collaboration and synodality:
“The DPC is about walking together as a Church,” Bishop Homeming said. “It ensures every part of the diocese has a voice and draws on the diverse gifts of our people.
“I wish to thank everyone who nominated and the parishes that supported this process. The quality of nominees was outstanding, which speaks volumes about the faith, commitment, and generosity of our people. We are blessed with extraordinary individuals who bring wisdom and experience, and I am deeply grateful to those who have accepted this call to serve.”
The appointed members have a rich array of experience, including parish pastoral council members, school leaders, educators, spiritual directors, and contributors to the Diocesan Renewal Journey.
The Council will commence formation in February 2026 and will be formally commissioned at St Carthage’s Cathedral in March 2026.
