The Bishop of Lismore has launched a flood appeal to support communities across the Mid North Coast following days of torrential rain and severe flooding. Last week saw widespread loss and damage to families and businesses across the Mid North Coast.

In a video message, Bishop Greg Homeming OCD called on the broader community to act with compassion and generosity. “Within the boundaries of those parishes, there has been devastation,” Bishop Greg said. “For this reason, I’m putting in place a flood appeal in the hope that many people will have the generosity to contribute so that the Diocese can find ways to help others. I thank you in advance, and send you my prayers.”

This is not the first time the Diocese has rallied to support flood-impacted communities. Following the catastrophic 2022 floods, the Diocese raised funds through the Lismore Flood Appeal to assist those in Tweed Heads, Ballina, Casino, Woodburn, Grafton, and Lismore.

“As many of you know, this is not our first flood appeal, because the Diocese has had a number of floods,” Bishop Greg said. “Every cent given to the flood appeals has been accounted for and used to help those in need.”
